It is a harvest festival celebrated on the full moon day of the Hindu lunar month of Ashvin, marking the end of the monsoon season. Sharad Poornima is also known as Kumara Purnima, Kojagiri Purnima, Navanna Purnima, or Kaumudi Purnima in different parts of India.

  2. Boil milk with saffron threads and reduce it by 25%.
  3. Pour in soaked rice and cook for 30 minutes.
  4. Add sugar and cardamom.

  6. Bring kheer to the room temperature. Mix the top creamy layer with the rest of the kheer.

Ingredients
  

  • 8 grams clarified butter (ghee) 1/2 tbsp
  • 7.5 grams lotus seed ½ cup
  • 700 ml milk full fat
  • 8 pcs saffron threads
  • 150 grams rice soaked for 30 mins
  • 110 grams sugar 1/2 cup
  • 5 pcs green cardamom crushed
  • 15 ml kewda water 1 tbsp
  • 16 grams cashew nut
  • 20 grams almond
  • 12 grams walnut halves
  • 15 grams raisins

Instructions
 

  • Heat 8 g clarified butter in a Kadaai. Now, add 7.5 g lotus seeds. Stir fry until light brown. Next, add 16 g cashew nut, 20 g almond, and 12 g walnut. Now, stir fry until cashews are light brown. Keep aside.
  • Pour 700 ml milk in a kadhai. boil it until it is condensed to 75%. Add 8 pcs saffron threads and then mix well. Now, add a gold ring or a piece of gold.
  • Pour in soaked rice. Cook on a medium flame for 30 minutes.
  • Add 110 g sugar and 5 pcs green cardamom (crushed). Mix well and cook for 10 minutes.
  • Add lotus seeds and nuts.
  • Cook for 5 minutes and add 15 g raisins. Pour in 15 ml kewda water. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Bring kheer to the room temperature. Mix the top creamy layer with the rest of the kheer.
  • Remove the gold piece.
